Big Sky Resort

Montana is known as “Big Sky Country.” And at Big Sky Resort you’ll see exactly why. The impressive white of Lone Peak beautifully contrasts to the bluebird sky and the dark forest below, and gets you closer than ever to the expansive blue.

A gorgeous day of skiing at Big Sky Resort in Montana.

With the “Lone Peak” pass, you can experience “The Biggest Skiing in America” with access to both Big Sky Resort and Moonlight Basin in Montana. With the pass you’ll have access to over 5,500 acres of skiing!

Big Sky Resort itself has 27 lifts and incredible big mountain skiing. It also offers several options for Montana hotels and lodging, restaurants and lots of other winter activities. Visit Montana ski packages for trop planning information. Yellowstone National Park is another popular attraction nearby.

The actual terrain at Big Sky Resort is 14% beginner, 26% intermediate and 40% advanced and 20% expert. The 27 lifts get you up to 150 trails. With over 400 inches of annual snowfall, and a peak at over 11,000 feet, when snow falls here it stays!

The longest trail is an incredible six miles long! Take Liberty Bowl to Mountain Mall for this thigh-testing trail.

Before, this resort was known as an intermediate mountain, but thanks to the Lone Peak Tram, the resort acres are now doubled and the trails are much more extreme. Because of the tram, the vertical drop at Big Sky Resort is 4,350 feet, placing it among the top three ski resorts in North America.

The 15-person tram has been running for over a decade now, and is also a great way for less advanced skiers and sightseers to get a panoramic view of three states, two national parks and dozens of surrounding Rocky Mountain peaks.

The terrain park at Big Sky Resort has a half pipe, and other world-class challenges. Their trails include glades through Bavarian forest.

Elbow room is an important commodity in Montana, as well as size. In fact, the mountain usually has at least double the number of acres as there are skiers occupying them!

If the slopes aren’t quite enough of an exercise for you, try out the resort’s wellness center. Belly dance, get your cardio in, or practice yoga and Pilates with one of the qualified instructors at Big Sky off the slopes.

Reach Big Sky Resort from US 191, just 45 miles south of Bozeman, Montana. Allegiant, Northwest, Delta/SkyWest, Frontier, Horizon/Alaska and United have flights arriving direct from Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, Seattle, Minneapolis, Detroit, New York and San Francisco. Shuttles, rental cars or taxis will take you from Gallatin Field airport to the slopes.
