Wild Goose Island Overlook at Glacier National Park

Montana is rapidly becoming known as a top vacation spot in the Rockies, and for good reason. Montana accesses both Glacier National Park and Yellowstone National Park, has terrific ski areas such as Whitefish Mountain Resort and Big Sky Resort, big rivers such as the Yellowstone River and big lakes like Flathead Lake. Because of these features, some of the Rockies' best fly fishing, skiing, camping, hiking, mountain biking, ranch vacations and other outdoor activities are in Montana.

But a Montana Vacation isn't all about roughing it. You'll find that Montana has great hotels and lodging, restaurants and breweries. There's also plenty to do if you feel like spending a vacation day indoors, whether that's visiting a historical museum, a casino, live theater or music. All year round, you'll find that the state offers plenty of things to do, including various festivals and other special events.

One of the greatest things about a Montana vacation is that you'll often feel like you have the state all to yourself. Montana has the third lowest population density in the U.S., and hasn't been "discovered" to the level of other Rockies areas. In Montana you can enjoy uncrowded hiking trails, short lift lines and quiet fishing trips. Montana is often referred to as "The last best place" because of this. If you want to get away from it all, you can still come to Montana.

So what are you waiting for? You can find everything you need here, or at Montana Vacations to get your trip started. We've got info on Montana's towns and cities, ski resorts, national parks, fishing, hiking, camping, restaurants and much more. is the official state tourism authority.
