Read below for a few ideas of what to do in Snowmass Village:
Ski Snowmass
Well, we should say, ski or snowboard Snowmass. This Colorado Rockies resort was rated “#1 Overall Resort” by Transworld Snowboarding Magazine and has so much area that you’ll never get tired of a certain route or chair lift.
Almost no matter how long you stay, you won’t be able to see all the cruisers, glades, steeps, terrain parks and half pipes that make up this mega ski area that could fit 36 Disneylands inside the ski-area boundaries.
Snowmass is record holder for vertical rise in the United States. Its 4,406 feet of vertical is higher than three Sears Towers or four Eiffel Towers!
An overall intermediate-level mountain, Snowmass is Aspen’s sister resort. In fact, they belong to the same company and one lift pass will get you onto the slopes at Snowmass, Aspen, Buttermilk and Aspen Highlands.
Aspen Snowmass Nordic Trail System
This trail system has over 90 km of free trails for cross-country skiers and snowshoers. The trails connect the Colorado communities of Basalt, Aspen and Snowmass.
Snowmass Lodge and Club
This full-service club offers 18 holes of golf, year-round tennis courts, spa and up-scale fitness center.
Horseback ride
Explore Capitol Valley and even catch a glimpse of Mt. Sopris during a leisurely ride in the mountainside. Many local companies offer full and half-day excursions.
Whitewater Rafting
Brave the Roaring Fork or Arkansas River while you’re in the area and find out why its in the top ten places to raft in the country!
Fly-fishing
The Frying Pan River lies just outside of Snowmass and is an angler’s heaven. Try to catch your dinner here during the summer! If not, just get your kayak out and float and paddle around for a while.
Hiking
Mountain slopes give way to grassy trails in the summer. Take advantage of all the area’s lookout points hiking, mountain biking and rock climbing, but keep in mind that Snowmass Village and Wildcat have lots of resident bears, which like to munch on the acorns and berries of the south-facing mountainsides.
The Anderson Ranch Arts Center
Visit this center to see their latest artist exhibit or take one of their workshops to get in touch with your inner artist, or just to have some laughs.
Snowmass Balloon Festival
Every June Snowmass Village’s skies brighten with around 50 hot air balloons during the annual race. Below, at the launch site, spectators enjoy a champagne breakfast and live classical music.
