Frisco, Colorado is a small town in Summit County, home to some of the best skiing in the world. Stay in one of the great Frisco lodging options to have close access to Copper Mountain, Breckenridge, Keystone and Arapahoe Basin ski resorts.

Ice boarding on a frozen lake in Frisco. (Colorado Tourism Office)

Frisco is popular in winter, and has just as many activities in the summer. Read below for a list of things to do in Frisco year-round.

Skiing
Copper Mountain is just six miles away, an has 126 trails for skiers and snowboarders to explore. If you’re willing to go a little farther, Breckenrige, Keystone and A-Basin are within driving distance to Frisco.

Cross-Country Skiing
The Penninsula Recreation Center, just a half mile outside of Frisco has a Nordic Center that is perfect for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. Twenty-five miles of trails make their way through the beautiful White River National Forest.

More Winter Activities
Ice-skating, dog sledding, snow tubing, snowmobiling, and sleigh rides are all possible in the Frisco/Copper Mountain area, but the most unique winter recreation is kite boarding on frozen Dillon Reservoir. Just strap on your snowboard or skis and let the wind take you across the ice!

Sailing and Boating
When the ice melts on the reservoir (also called Lake Dillon), it becomes a watery playground for sailors and paddle or motor boaters for visitors to Frisco and nearby Dillon. Stroll around the lake for a nice hike and picnic with the family at the playground at the Frisco Bay Marina. Canoes and kayaks also available for rent at the marina!

Recreational Trails
Frisco has a paved path apt for walking, biking, skateboarding, running with strollers, and roller blading. The paths will connect you to other towns in Summit County, even as far away as Vail. Access to off-road (unpaved) trails appear along the paths. The recreational paths in Frisco go past the trailhead to historic Mason Town and past a nature preserve area. Hiking trailheads start right out of Frisco’s downtown and wind through town and out into the White River National Forest.

Penninsula Recreation Center
This multi-purpose recreation center is just a half mile south of Frisco on Highway 9 (towards the town of Breckenridge). Reservations are not required but are recommended for their baseball field, multi-purpose field, disc golf course and campgrounds. The rec center also has picnic facilities, a skateboarding park and an extensive trail system.

Dining
Visitors and locals love Frisco dining and shopping. The downtown is small, but has a fair amount of eateries and shops to choose from. A few nice art galleries are also sprinkled throughout town.

Historic Park and Schoolhouse Museum
Get to know Frisco’s Old West history in this town museum. The building itself was built in the 1880s and shows off Frisco’s mining and early railroad past. Tour the old school house, jail and chapel- all for free! Located on 2nd and Main streets.
