Lake Minnewanka is 1,450 meters above sea level and 18 kilometers long with a maximum depth of 100 meters. Only cold water, altitude dives take place at Lake Minnewanka. Visibility fluctuates according to the time of year and the number of divers at the site. Depths vary according to the time of year as well, rising up to 5.5 meters (18 feet) from spring to fall. There are 16 features located in three main diving areas.
