Winter Activities: Snowmobiling day tours explore deep into Banff, Canadian Rockies

Climb aboard a snowmobile, and take one of our full-day tours to places in the Canadian Rockies you just can’t reach by car or on foot.

We know snowmobile enthusiasts like to fire up their machines for fun on the powder, and there’s nothing wrong with that. But we offer you an experience beyond just skimming snow. For one thing, we provide the snowmobile. For another, we take you places of great historical interest. And then there’s the fact that we’ll treat you to a fine, hot meal at your destination before you head back.

Our expert tour guides will keep you entertained with a wealth of knowledge about the areas through which you’ll pass, and of course they’ll be on hand to assist if anything should happen.

It doesn’t matter whether you’re staying Banff, Jasper or Canmore – we will provide you with transportation from all of them. We strongly recommend that you dress in ski clothing – and bring your camera! – but that’s all you have to worry about. We will provide a helmet, boots, snowmobile suit, mandatory insurance, and the aforementioned guide and hot meal.

Be advised that the minimum age for anyone who wishes to drive a snowmobile is 16 years. Passengers may be as young as 6 years old. There is a maximum of one driver and one passenger per sled.

Here are a couple of our most popular full-day tours:

KICKING HORSE FULL DAY SNOWMOBILING: You’ll follow trails through a forest that sits on the edge of a valley until you reach an old trappers’ cabin, where you’ll enjoy a hot mountain barbecue lunch. You’ll spend between 4 hours and 4 and a half hours on the snowmobile, plenty of time to explore and play on the powder, and the scenery is well worth the trip; the journey will take you above the treeline. The tour group departs Canmore at 8 a.m., Banff at 8:30 a.m. and Lake Louise at 9:30 a.m.

PARADISE BASIN FULL DAY: This one is for the hardier snowmobiling enthusiasts, as you will spend a full 5 hours-plus on your sled. And what a journey you’ll take. We’ll lead you up Paradise Valley to 8,000 feet above sea level, where you’ll explore the remnants of an early 1900′s silver mining town. Above the treeline, we’ll stop at an open powder bowl and allow you to play for awhile. Lunch is served in a cozy log cabin. Plus, you’ll have the chance to take a short walk to see the beautiful Smith Icefalls.

Whatever brings you to the Canadian Rockies, we’re sure this is one winter’s day you’ll never forget. For more information, call 1-877-565-9372.
