Banff Restaurants: Buffalo Mountain Lodge
The menu changes seasonally at the lodge’s Sleeping Buffalo Dining Room. Past menu items have included buffalo flank steak with chipotle lime aioli, Brome Lake duck trio with choke cherry sauce, Angus beef flat iron steak with chanterelle mushroom sauce, caribou medallions with shiraz game glaze and a savory grilled vegetable terrine. All this Rocky Mountain cuisine is served in the dining room decorated with hand-hewn timber. Buffalo Mountain Lodge’s menu innovations have even gotten the attention of Gourmet, Bon Appetit and James Beard Culinary Arts Foundation. The lodge has also won awards from Wine Spectator for its wine list. Breakfasts run $9-$19, lunch $10-$26 and dinner entrees generally cost between $26 and $43.
