Sparwood also boasts some of the densest wildlife populations in North America making in the best place for hunting, fishing, and viewing wildlife. The second largest city on the Elk River, which is known for its trout fishing makes it a great base for a fishing vacation.

Sparwood is one of the youngest towns in British Columbia and visitors can experience the great outdoors, and can take a trip into the past in Sparwood.

Downtown Sparwood is known for its sidewalk’s painted footsteps that take you on a 20 minute stroll past its famed outdoor murals. Another well known site is Terex Titan, the world’s largest dump truck, sporting a 350 ton capacity! Take a tour of the mine located 909 m (3,000 ft) above the town to fully explore what this interesting Canadian Rockies region has to offer.

Sparwood has two notable golf courses one established nine hole golf course and driving range and they are getting ready to add a new golf course at the Whiskey Jack Resort which is in the process of developing a world class 18-hole signature golf course.

Beyond this alpine community exists a treasure of high country adventure. Fly fishing in mountain lakes and streams exceeds every

angler’s expectation. Whitewater rafting opportunities are abundant and hiking or biking on old forestry trails provide opportunities for viewing deer, elk or bighorn sheep and promises rare photo opportunities.

In addition, community parks are favourites for picnics and evening strolls. Sparwood’s mining history is depicted in murals painted on the buildings in the downtown core. Also throughout Sparwood is a variety of restored mining artifacts that were used in the underground mines in the early 1900’s.

Unique in its own way, Sparwood thrives in being able to service the wildlife viewing, fishing and hunting enthusiasts.
