Sitting on the shores of the warm Windermere Lake, Invermere, British Columbia is a wonderful place to visit while on your Canadian Rockies vacation.  Walk along the flower and tree-lined main street, browse the unique shops, enjoy the arts and crafts exhibits, and spend time in the many outdoor cafes and fine restaurants.

Here you can go windsurfing on the lake, fishing, white water rafting, hiking backpacking and camping. There are also plenty of golfing opportunities near Invermere, BC. In the winter, the area is popular for snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, snow shoeing and skiing and snowboarding at nearby Panorama Ski Resort.

With Lake Windermere only a few minutes from downtown, you can easily enjoy outdoor sports such as water skiing, wind surfing, and swimming.  With its two public beaches, Kinsmen Beach Park and Athalmer Beach Provincial Park, the lake is a perfect place to loll away the summer hours.

Make sure you check out Pynelogs Cultural Center in town which hosts many exhibits, theatrical products, music festivals, concerts, and workshops.  Take some time to explore the Invermere Museum where you will learn about the history of the region.

If you travel south on Hwy 93/95, you will come upon Fairmont Hot Springs Resort, only minutes outside of Invermere.  This is one of the most popular travel destinations in the world, with its two golf courses, spa facilities, Canada’s largest mineral hot pools, and on-site skiing.  Surrounded by the Canadian Rockies surrounding the resort, Fairmont is a treat not to be missed.
