Elkford, British Columbia is an excellent place to visit on a Canadian Rockies vacation. Here you will find some of the best fishing BC has to offer, as well as great chances for wildlife viewing, and opportunities for outdoor recreation such as dog sledding, golf and more.

Enjoy some of the Canadian Rockies' best landscapes in British Columbia.

Located at the junction of the Elk River and Boivin Creek, Elkford is home to a wide variety of wildlife including mountain goats, black bear, elk, deer, moose, and more bighorn sheep than anywhere else in North America. Fishing in the Elk and Fording Rivers is an angler’s dream, and with only 70 km (43 miles) distance from one of the biggest wilderness parks in western Canada, Elkford is an ideal vacation destination for lovers of big nature.

Enjoy Elk Lakes Provincial Park in the late spring and summer where you will find breathtaking mountains, luminous lakes, and glacial remains inside more than 17,000 hectares of sub-alpine land. Winter in Elkford brings the Wilderness Classic Sled Dog Derby as well as snowmobiling and other outdoor sports.

With its 30 km (19 miles) of interpretive hiking trails, the beautiful Josephine Falls, a wide network of mountain biking trails, a 9-hole golf course, horseback riding, community parks, and a wonderful range of restaurants and shops, Elkford makes an ideal stop for any Canadian Rockies vacation.
