Let it Snow in Banff, Alberta

Weather in Banff – Snow Problems

Banff National Park

Just when you think that spring is here and the skis and snowboards will have to be packed away, the heaviest snowfall I have ever seen makes an appearance. March nearly always teases the Canadian Rockies locals and visitors by pushing the temperatures up, melting the old snow and then bringing in fresh powder. This morning, Banff was teeming with excited adults as if it was Christmas day. People scurried from their houses, hotels, motels, lodgings and igloos with skiing and snowboarding on the brain. The town is covered once again in a white carpet and the ski hills like Lake Louise have never looked better. Welcome back Jack Frost!

Some people just can't bear the snow!

It is hard to believe that only two days ago, I was sitting on a bench outside the Clocktower Mall on Banff Avenue sipping a coffee and reading my book in the sun. Said bench is now covered under about 25 foot of solid beautiful snow. The best part of it is that the temperatures are still not that cold. The sun is still out and shining. Spring skiing is always good and especially when the snow is as good as it is now. If you are a Western Canadian resident, check out the spring ski specials on offer in Sunshine and Lake Louise. For as little as $250, you could have unlimited skiing all the way until the last drop of snow has gone…if it ever does!
