Day Trips from Banff – Lake Louise
Day Trips from Banff – Lake Louise
Lake Louise, Alberta
It is no wonder Banff National Park has been a much beloved place for visitors for so many years. Not only is it packed with activities and places to see but it is also right in the heart of the Canadian Rockies and surrounded by some of the coolest and most beautiful places around. Towns like Golden and Jasper are unique in their own way and only a short drive away. However, closer again is the beautiful little town of Lake Louise.
Only a 40 minute drive from Banff, it really is a small town. In fact, if my memory serves me correctly, I don’t think there are any traffic lights at all! In winter, the Lake Louise ski area is the hub and the main reason for visiting. It is one of the best snow hills in Canada and certainly one of the biggest. In summer too, it draws in tourists with its gondola and tons of hikes to choose from. From the top of the Lake Louise hill and on a clear day, you will get one of the most unobstructed and frankly gorgeous views of the surrounding Canadian Rockies.
There are some great hotels around namely the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. After having lived in the Rockies for a long time and also seen some of the worlds most beautiful spots, I would have to say this hotel has one of the most beautiful locations in the world. Lake Louise, particularly in summer, is stunning. The sun reflects off the turquoise water as a solo kayak paddles across the Lake. If this is out of your price range for a few nights stay, it is still a great option for a beer or afternoon tea after a days hiking in beautiful Lake Louise.
