I love thinking about traveling in the Alberta Canadian Rockies, helping friends or family figure out where there going to go in Banff, Jasper and Canmore, what restaurants to check out, hikes to do, and sights to see.

But even when planning my own trips, I hate thinking about transportation. Friends and family are always asking, “How do I get from Calgary to Banff?” I used to always avoid the question, just saying “I don’t know. You’ll figure it out.” I always just want to focus on the vacation parts of the vacation, and not have to worry about these chores. But after many trips,  I find that it’s just best to get this issues taken care of, and I recommend a rental or a shuttle service.

Banff, Jasper and the rest of the Canadian Rockies are all serviced well by transfers from the Calgary airport. There are a couple different options to choose from for your transfer. One is the Banff Airporter shuttle which has multiple departures every day, and takes you directly to your lodging. If you plan on seeing a lot of different places on your Canadian Rockies vacation, and want the freedom to make plans on the fly, renting a vehicle is probably the choice for you. Calgary, despite being in a somewhat remote part of the world, is a big metropolitan city, with a world class international airport, which provides a number of top-notch options for your car rental needs.
